I feel rather guilty for not updating in over a year -- not because I'm neglecting my readers (those dear, imaginary people), but because I've put a lot of work into this site and it's a shame to see it go to waste.
Given my career choice, it's ironic that I care so little for writing blogs. I suppose I put enough of myself into my fiction that I don't feel the need to express myself through gossip and witty anecdotes. I've always lived by the maxim that it's, "better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt". I have no illusions that my life is more interesting than anyone else's, and in fact -- despite the subject matter of my fiction -- my life doesn't have the necessary abundance of drama and adventure required to make it a compelling narrative.
That said, the sad truth is that, in order to get along in this biz, one has to write. A lot. Moreover, if I don't think my writing voice is enjoyable enough to make my own life seem interesting, then I can't possibly expect my voice to be interesting enough to make a fictional character's life seem interesting. And who knows -- maybe following a non-blogger's journey into the world of blogging will provide just the sort of quirkiness to make this thing worth reading.
At any rate, suffice it to say that I have not vanished, nor have I stopped writing. Indeed, I've written some of my best work to date (at least, in my opinion -- and who's opinion counts more than mine when it comes to my writing?) Hopefully it will only get better from here.
